FACT/OR is the definitive break-up with the americana-loaden style Silver Pockets Full set off with in 2014. Already on their second album ‘Stay Close’ (2018), the band was searching a way to add more electronic and alternative elements to their style. When Guillaume Dumas (guitar) and Marco Vogler (bass) joined the band in 2020, Silver Pockets Full was fully powered up for a new musical journey.

.

They started off with the acoustic demo’s for 5 tantalizing songs, written by Edwin Dortland (lead vocals, acoustic guitar). ‘Let Some Light In’, ‘Jealousy’, ‘Weight’, ‘Skindeep’ and ‘Hiding in Plain Sight’ were shaped into alternative rockversions with a modern 80’s and 90’s vibe in mind. Edwin wrote Modern Days and Fact/Or as the core of the storyline on FACT/OR. it reflects a world slowly, but surely going mad. The seven songs tell a story of dealing with changes, while not being able to tell what is fake and what is real anymore. About people surviving in a digitalizing world, in which they crave to feel, to touch, to trust each other. And if they can’t see eye to eye, then at least hope to literally see each other.

.

From the pounding, grinding electrobeat in ‘Let Some Light In’ to the ultralow drops in ‘Hiding in Plain Sight’ , Erik van der Vlis (keyboards & programming) brings his rich progressive style experience to a new 2023 level. Fred Langhorst (drums) is the strong and steady backbone fact/or on all songs. Songs that are obviously influenced by Dave Matthews Band, Talk Talk, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Porcupine Tree, Coldplay, Peter Gabriel. Yes, as said, the 80’s and 90’s.

.

As on all their albums, all songs were written, arranged, recorded and produced by the band. FACT/OR was mixed and engineered by Stijn Donders at Raiko Records, mastered by Peter Brusse at Q-Point and launched on 25th March 2023.
